Hey, ok, a person ordered out of province (BC) and they dont get the full %15 tax as to ontario. i was wandering if there is a way for the site to add only the tax each province or country uses instead of adding 15% to every user no matter where they are from, thanks!

Hello fellow Canadian user!

What do you think of this (sort of) solution:

(still working on this but came across this as I'm desperately trying to get IPN/PayPal working)

1. make the main tax as PST (I assume Ontario is 8%?)

2. make that tax only apply to Ontario

3. in PayPal Business, set the regional tax for Canada-only for 7%

Result in the CC checkout:

Ontario customers:

- you will see product: $10.00

- PST tax: $0.80

- shipping: $5.40

- total: $16.20

Then, when you go through PayPal, they will add another 7% on top... Problem is that it put's 7% on top of the 8% tax too no? ...

Other "Canadian" customers:

- you will see product: $10.00

- PST tax: $0.00

- shipping: $5.00

- total: $10.00

Then, in PayPal, they are charged 7% on top... At least this one works right?

Other Worldwide customers:

- you will see product: $10.00

- PST tax: $0.00

- shipping: $5.00

- total: $10.00

Then in PayPal, they are charged no tax.

What do you think? I'm concentrating on getting IPN to work so thought I'd at least post this if it helps. (yes, I tried Sir Williams fix but no luck...) btw, I need to get this tax working too - I posted earlier with zero replies...

UPDATE Now with IPN/PDT working with PayPal, I looked into this more and it 'seemed' to be working when I was doing all those tests with Sandbox - and now it doesn't seem to show any additional taxes at all 'within' PayPal's site even though i have set a region tax in PayPal's Profile.

Question to developer's out there:

Can you create a mod where:

1. business owner inputs their home province somewhere and their regional tax = p

2. business owner inputs their home country and the nation-wide tax = c

3. during the checkout process it queries the customer's address to output only 1 of 3 possible equations:

A. product price * ( p + c ) --> those in the same province + country

B. product price * ( c ) --> those in the same country

C. product price only --> those outside the country (no tax charged)

Hope that make sense to everyone...

My boss is a bit upset that I overlooked CubeCart's inability(?) to do this when proposing we use CC - without this we can't use it anymore...

Your help will really save my butt. Feeling the heat...

FYI I have found this thread - does this code look like something someone can continue to add onto to achieve the goal above? Possible solution?
