I have looked at markscarts great "step by step" guide and i'm STILL having problems... I have set up a product to purchase and download. I have set the download link on the product page to my server root path. I purchase the product as a "customer". Then I go to change the order status to "processing" so I can access the link. This is where i find the problem. The download link is set to http... and i can't change this... when the order is changed to processing and my "customer" tries to download. they get a file of gibberish. I have no problems with my test buy and going throught the checkout prosses but once ive changed it to prossesing and enabled the link to download it then tries to make me download a html link but yet the link i provide was my server root path. Do I need to set the sold item to processing ,(after i check payments been received) for customer to be able to access download link ? Anyone point me to threads or docs explaining how product downloads work, anything (i) admin needs to do , what customer needs to do. cheers PS. I'm using a html download link. vokf Posted September 8, 2007 Share Posted September 8, 2007 Hi, there is no reason why digital downloads would work on one skin only. There are a few things to check: -Do you see a download link in "Your Account" -How are you linking to the file in the product set-up - via the secure method? (ie the file is outside of the store directory strucuture) -Is the order status "processing" following payment. -If its "completed", I'm fairly sure you won't be able to download. The default is 3 downloads in 24 hours. -What path did you set-up in the product set-up? ie /home/youraccount/public_html /downloads or /home/youraccount/downloads Basically, post back with more info. I'm currently working on a digital download store, and didn't have any problems. Getting the path correct is critical, but once you know it, you'll be fine. If you're using PayPal, you really need IPN to be working correctly (something for another thread!). In the meantime, manually set the status to "processing" and that should be ok.
