Guest cpcnw
Hi All, My last 4 posts have never made it onto the forum ? Maybe the moderator doesnt like me ? Maybe they are trying to avoid dumb ass questions or stating the obvoius ? I have no problem with RTFM or Read this post here and go away and think about it for a while .... But to ignore posts all together - that feels unfair ? Perhaps someone who has anything to do with running this forum can point out where I am going wrong otherwise I will just end up as a passive member. Please remember we ALL had to start somewhere!!! [And frankly I have read more dumb ask questions than mine] Bizzarly that one showed up straight away ? This seems inconsistant ? Surely you either moderate all posts or non and let members alert bad posts wiki style ? Please explain or if you did already I will go and read forum rules etc As a suggestion it might be a good idea that when members join the comfirmation email includes an explanation of how the forum operates ? Guest EverythingWeb
Hello, Within the last few days we introduced an anti-SPAM system to try and cut down on the amount of Spam messages (including pornography etc) being posted either by bots or real humans. We are still trying to tweak it and get it working 100% so all feedback is being received greatfully. The moderators are counter-acting any 'false-postives' (like it sounds yours have been) and *most* are getting picked up. I have just had a bit of a prune and got some more enabled and showing. Like I've said, we are working on it, and we know its picking up some eroneous entries - we are working on that aswell. However it has also eliminated all the spam we were getting.
Guest prissanna
[And frankly I have read more dumb ask questions than mine] Those were probably from me. I wondered what on earth was going on. It's very frustrating for me to have to wait half a day for my post to show up. Often I don't even bother posting because of it.
Guest EverythingWeb
Like I say, we're doing our best to improve the SPAM catching false-positives. Running such a large forum, with a wide variety of different ages using the forum, we need to make sure that some of most 'horrific' spam isn't ever let be posted in the forums. Thanks. Guest prissanna
Wasn't really aiming my frustrations at you everythingweb. Just had to get them out of my system! LOL I'm sure once it's tweaked, this system will work great. Was there an announcement about the new change? If so, I missed it and was befuzzled as to why the posts were being moderated. Guest EverythingWeb
Hello, No there wasn't an announcement made yet. We weren't expecting quite the results we got. I shall see to some form of note getting posted Thanks.
Guest prissanna
Wondering if it's possible to just moderate posts from new users? Perhaps users who have a post count under a certain number and not those who have a higher post count? This could be stated in the rules when a member signs up as well as stickied in the announcement section. Just a thought.
Guest EverythingWeb
That's what we were 'aiming for', however without having had a really good play with the settings, I can't confirm whether its possible. Like I say, its something that has been discussed a lot in private and is being actively worked on I will close this thread now, as I believe the OP has had their question(s) answered. I will see that an announcement of some form is put up & stickied until we are 100% confident that its doing exactly what we want it to. Many thanks.
