Can anyone point me to a mod that will use the API with cubecart for the UK version of google payments that already works? Or is anyone planning to doing this? Cheers David I use Google Checkout here in the US ...It is catching on.. Most people have become comfortable with Paypal..Afraid of change.. I'm not saying they are bad - just beware the above. I'd love to use google checkout - even if it was not free - the standard charges are 1.5% + 15p. If a refund is needed you can put in the appropriate amount up to the total purchase. 3)When a item is purchased.. You are then taken to Googles SSL site for the check out.. This is possibly up to £100 expense which may not be worth it for the smaller online shops. Or you could host with Site5. They $5 per month for hosting. Get a SSL cert from godaddy for about $19 per year, and get it installed forever at site5 for $15. You are going to make that cash back on your first few orders because of the current Google discounts, and it is hardly a high fee anyway. Yes, you pay a bit more and get a bit less on UK hosts - but this one factor makes it worthwhile. I've asked my host if they might implement a shared SSL cert for such purposes. aris1234 Posted April 28, 2007 Share Posted April 28, 2007 I've implemented Google Checkout using the gateway module referenced on cubecart.org - it seems to work OK. Some lingering doubts though - reading the Google Checkout help & implementation pages - it seems that google checkout is meant to replace your checkout completley - i.e. you do not take any personal details from the customer - and the google checkout is meant to sit next to the standard 'checkout' button on your site - not sit side-by side next to a payment processor like PayPal. Anyhow - i've got it installed and it appears to work - if Google complain, then i'll need to re-investigate this as i see integration being a fairly substantial modification if it is to replace the checkout - it may mean an upgrade to CC 3.1 - or even another cart. I got a mail from Google (who actually visited the site!) to say that we did not comply with their Google Checkout terms and conditions - BUT we could still process transactions - we just would not have the 'Google Checkout' badge on our Google Adwords. I'm OK with that - and when CC 3.1 comes out, hopefully things will be better integrated to fully support Google Checkout. So far though - no Google Checkout payments. It makes very very very little different to geo located searches for the UK. I have written a few papers on Geo Location search. The problem to be worried about is personalised search, but once again, the location of the server has no bearing. It is the opposite way round however if you are in the USA as being on a server outside the USA will hinder your results. In short hosting in the US or the UK makes no difference. I rank for some highly competative phrases And if you are really that worried about it you can get cheap hosting in the uk with servage.net. If they cannot contact you via telephone (for whatever reason) the account/application is instantly cancelled! I bought the ssl cert from godaddy, are there any other hosts that i can use? As for the previous posters assertion that geo-located searches do not make a different for the UK - disagree. Go to www.google.co.uk, and click on the 'pages from the uk' button and search - that is where having a UK hosted server comes into play.
