Hi,

I did search for this and only found something that said there may be a mod on cubecart.org, but I could not find anything on cubecart.org.

The website i am working on is futuretouch.co.uk

They need a purchases area and I am trying to install CC on a subdomain purchases.futuretouch.co.uk. I have uploaded the CC files to this subdomain but everytime i go to the purchases sub domain it just gives a page cannot be displayed. I am cetratin there is nothing wrong with the hosting side here as I can upload other things to this subdomain that will load fine.

So can CC be installed on a sub domain and if so how?

Thanks.

Short answer - Yes it can be installed on a sub domain (in my case, 10 different subdomains for my different stores lol).

You did upload everything in the upload folder and not the folder itself, right?

I didn't do the subdomain.domain thing though - all mine are domain/subdomain so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Yes i uploaded everything in the upload folder and not the folder itself. I think the subdomain.domain does make some difference, becasue everything else absolutley fine and this is not the first time i'm using cc, although it is the first time im using it on a subdomain.domain.

So can anyone tell me how i can get this sorted plz?

I think it is a server problem. This is the error I get:

Invalid access to memory location.

I get that error at the following locations:

http://purchases.futuretouch.co.uk/

http://futuretouch.co.uk/purchases/

http://purchases.futuretouch.co.uk/index.php

http://futuretouch.co.uk/purchases/index.php

However, as you have mentioned, other files in the directory may be accessed, like this one:

http://purchases.futuretouch.co.uk/images/logos/ccLogo.gif

There is nothing in CubeCart that would ever prevent it from being installed at any place on the server. So as Mark said, check other things first.

Mysty, domain/folder is NOT a so-called subdomain. Subdomain is a recently coined term that has come to refer to an alternate hosthame.

There are three parts of a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). The first, is the right-most portion. That's the TLD or Top Level Domain. This is .com, .net. .org, etc. Next is the 2nd level domain name which is yahoo, google, cubecart, joescrabshack, etc. all followed by a TLD rendering yahoo.com, google.com, cubecart.com and joescrabshack.com respectively. Third is the hostname or machine name. This was originally used as the name implies....to designate a specific machine within a network.

DNS or Domain Name Services, has been around quite a while before the World Wide Web became popular. Since remembering IP addresses was not easy, DNS came into existance to offer up a way to use english words to cross reference to IPs. In a large network, you'd have many machine or host names. These were usually separate individual machines scattered throughout the network. Some had names that indicate what/where they were, others used more whimsical names.

mail03.ibm.com

fileserver15.mit.edu

odin.bsa.net

bartleby.swbell.com

(I made these up BTW. However if they're real, cool! :D)

Today however, most "subdomains" are used to designate different sections of a company's web site. That the way they'll be typically seen and referenced here.

Wow....I just typed a lot for a simple question. Oh well, perhaps somebody learned something from it all. Cheers!

:)
