Editor puts my links in quotes..!

I'm trying to add a simple hyperlink to an external site into my rich text editor and it keeps adding quotes etc. whether I add the link from the source or using the hyperlink pop-up. Example:

<a href="\&quot;http://www.e-quester.com/rugBuilder.php\&quot;">

Any ideas?
