Guest
Hi, Firstly, yes, I did do a search but it came up poorly. Anyway, I was wondering how I protect my digital files from being downloaded or edited on my server. Does Cubcart handle this or do I need to make other arrangements myself? I know you can set the download limit from Cubecart but what other precautions are there? Thanks.

burgensteen
The only real way i know of is to put the fils outside the root & there is a mod to manualy allow downloads through admin for security issues that most modders seem to use (including myself), but this obviously needs to be discussed at cubecartforums instead. Guest
It's been a while since I started with CubeCart, but it seemed pretty clear that the best way to protect digital files was to simply upload them OUTSIDE the public_html folder of your hosting account. That way, the ONLY way anyone can access the files is if they have a valid CubeCart download link. In fact, right on the Add Product screen, at the bottom is a brief notice about placing files outside the publicly accessible folder.
