Guest zandebar
Hi I have just moved my site from the test area, and changed the global.inc.php and then put the permissions back. When I log in to the admin panel it says "WARNING: The main configuration file 'includes/global.inc.php' is writable and your store is at risk. Please change the file permissions so that it is read only." But I have made it read only -using my ftp program- and every time I log into admin it changes the permission back to writable. Is there another file I need to change for this not to happen? Can anybody help ? Cheers

Guest xceejayx
I had this problem with my old host. Contact your host, they should be a able to reset the permissions for you.
Guest
On servers which run PHP as a CGI or with PHPSuExec enabled, this error will show up. It's because the server runs your files as YOUR user. This means that when it writes new files, they appear just as if you had uploaded them via FTP instead of being owned by 'Apache' or 'Nobody'. This is to help increase overall security on the server and is being seen more and more frequently. If the permissions are indeed 444, don't worry about the error in the ACP. We'll probably look to make that error routine verify that the server is not in SuExec or CGI mode prior to warning. :sourcerer:
Guest vibeGirl
I had this problem with my old host. Contact your host, they should be a able to reset the permissions for you. Well, I'm running into the same problem during installation. I contacted my host, and they cannot seem to fix it either. For all of us, the file permissions show up as "444." I tried setting the file to 777, 755, 555 and then back to 444, but it still shows up as writeable. So, I cannot get past step 3 of the installation due to the error. Any other ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks! Heather
