add custom text?

hi everyone,

how can i add a custom block of test to my client's site that he can update himself?

he wants to let his customers know when he last updated his store.

something simple like: "Store last updated on Nov. 3, 2008"

any ideas?

Where did he want to add it? could he not add it to his homepage editor? If his customers want to know when his store was last updated, perhaps he could get an RSS feed for his store which they can subscribe to.

the RSS solution is not the best, as a lot of his customers aren't that tech savvy

he just wants an editable bit of text on the product page that he can update (or automatically updates) when he adds new products, so his customers know that there are new products available.
