Resolved - Customer Registration Issues

All of a sudden I am having a problem across platforms customers who register as they place their order are being flicked back to the registration screen and where the new password and password confirmation box shows again they enter their details hit enter and then they get a message to say email already in use.  Once they do this there appears to be no other options to proceed, the email address doesn't appear in customers list and they can't order

 

Other customers this week appear to have been able to register. I don't believe I have made any changes.

 

Any thoughts
