Guest Posted February 9, 2005 Share Posted February 9, 2005 Flat files COULD have faster access times than mySQL databases if you wrote efficient indexing functions. The main problem you would face is record-locking for multi-user access. A lot of clever people have gotten mysql to the stage it is now. Why re-invent the wheel? Guest OskMedia Posted February 10, 2005 Share Posted February 10, 2005 did a small testflat files can BE faster, i like flat files becasue everything is on your level, i mean you have full control over thye databse, otherwise your host your host has full control, i doin't think user privelliges is 2 much of an issue but i like flat files for a couple of reasons. BUT for osmehting like Cube Cart you would basically have to use databses well it would just take a long time to transfer it over to flat files, none the less i just use flat fiules for small sites or osmehting when i don't feel like going into the ogoyadmin etc creating blah blah, jus a kool thought, -------------Josh Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
