Cubecart slow when attempting to update customer order status and error shows up in the log: is not allowed as a key in 'CubeCart

for the past 3 days. When attempting to update an order status, it would keep spinning and times out.  order status never gets updated.  Also another problem is that when customer pays for the order from paypal, it does not update order status to processing.  instead it stays at pending

server is running cubecart 6.2.9
