Guest dorianrave
I just recently openned a new online website. It needs a few touch ups but for the most part it is ready to go. What do I need to do to get more hits on it. How do I get it to come up on the search engines? Can anyone explain the process to me. Thank you http://www.americanbayri.com
roban
First get rid of the music. That is one big NO NO! SEO is a big field with a lot of varying opinions but there are a few tenets that should be followed: 1. Get backlinks and plenty of them. There is no easy way to do this. You have to find sites that are relevent to yours and e-mail the web master and put their link on your site first. Most sites nowadays have link request pages. 2. Optimize your keywords and add plenty of content to your pages that use those keywords. 3. Get your meta tages added. Right now you have no keyword or description meta tags. Search engines will not find you without them. 4. Get your site Google Site Mapped 5. Join Froogle and upload your store 6. Join SEO forums. You can find directories to add your site to and useful information on the basics of SEO. Here are a few I belong to: http://www.webproworld.com/forum.php http://www.cre8asiteforums.com/index.php http://www.seo-news.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/ http://forums.seochat.com/ http://www.webmasterworld.com/home.htm SEO is a full time occupation. It's like marketing any other brick and mortar business.

markscarts
WOW! That intro page was taking forever to load on satellite feed, and before I could click to bypass it and go to store, that irritating music started up. Why do some people not understand that users like to choose when and what they listen to in the way of music? I see others have mentioned same issue. No one's picking at you; if you want to have customers, please consider going straight to store and no frigging muzak!
Guest edgeways
I set up my index page with a bunch of key words and then linked the key words to the proper category page in my cubecart. I must have done something right because it took less than a week for my site to be found by MSN and Yahoo. Now it's time for me to work up the froogle connection. If you're not offended by the photos of scantily dressed models in leather, check out my site as a potential reference. Edgeways Also, I saw a cool looking necklace on you front page (took a while to load) that I could not find in your store. I would have considered buying it at the right price but could not find it at all. I would put a couple of examples of what you actually have in your store on the front page instead. Hope this helps. Guest dorianrave
Okay I have taken the music out, submitted the site to various search engines including Google sitemaps. I have included Meta Tags and a description (I think) and I took the picture out of an Item that I had not included on the store yet. Thanks for the hash comments but I take it as constructive criticism. If anyone has more Please let me know. I am not complete with this site by any means updates will come little by little. Thanks Again http://www.americanbayri.com
roban
Gawd that's so much better. Just a couple of things: consider removing the grey background on the header testbox Your description is way too long: Shopping in historic Wickford, Rhode Island. Shopping for gifts, handmade jewelry and a large variety of apparel. Visit us at our scenic store or shop online in the comfort of your home Consider changing it to: Shopping in Wickford, Rhode Island for gifts, handmade jewelry and a large variety of apparel. Guest edgeways
Crusin' right along. I think with a little love and care you'll have a great store. In fact, I think one of those pendants will make it on my christmas list. But first.
markscarts
Well done on the recent improvements. Splash page loaded quickly, and ended in silence, much more inviting. Keep up the good work. :P
