cb2004
I see from the changelog that 4.1.0 is the next big release. Dont you think we should have a 4.0.4 or .5 release in between? More and more bugs are being found and I think it would make more sense to have another small build release fixing numerous bugs instead of working towards a big 4.1 release. Maybe a blog post or status update would stop people from guessing.
Guest Brivtech
Don't wait for it. It'll be out when it's out. The reason 4.0.1 was put out was because of the incredible pressure all of us were putting on Al and Martin to get it released. I've spent a week codeing an 800 line email script amongst other things, so I can fully appreciate the time involved in creating and testing code. There is a continuous purge on bugs, with minor improvements slipped in from time to time, so there will indeed be more 4.0.x update releases. Don't hold your breath for 4.1. It'll be done when it's done. I know that Martin is rewriting a fair chunk of the code base for this, as part of the improvements that are going on. Considering the critisism that came about from releasing 4.0.1 early because of us lot nagging so much, and the subsequent explosion of bugs that it threw out (credit where it's due to stamp them out very quickly), I would be very surprised if thorough testing doesn't take full priority over release time. On the one hand, like you I'm also eager to see the release and the advantages it can bring, I can also see that these things take time to perfect. I'm not sure how accurate the changelog is, perhaps it'll surprise me, and Martin has been hammering away at his computer at an alarming rate. cb2004
Fully understand. Would just like to see an update fixing numerous bugs that have been reported. 4 is a bit different to 3 now people are spending their cash on it. Guest Brivtech
I do completely agree though that a monthly update on the blog would be welcome by all.
