I bought a domain and host but currently https is not supported on my package.

customers wouldnt feel secure without https? I am thinking, is it possible that the 'checking out' part is handled on https (not my site.. e.g. I'll be using 2checkout) so will there website handle checkout or mine.. the part where they enter credit card data etc..?

hope I was clear..

Hi

For pages that are within your store / domain, the only way to have these use https is to install a SSL on your hosting account.  If you are using an external payment gateway like 2checkout, then they will take care of the https on their own pages.

We always recommend all stores install and enable a SSL on all pages regardless of whichever payment gateway they are using.  Firstly, there is the customer perception issue, secondly there is the small (currently small but will definitely increase in value in the coming year or two) Google rankings boost that having a https page gives, thirdly you should always login to any admin side of a CMS using secure https protected urls and lastly, but most importantly, you are collecting customer names, addresses and passwords and expecting them to login using these so you should be securing those.
