  1. Guys. This is a clincher, as to whether or not I put months worth of work in, so any advice today would be grately received. It seems that I may have a lot of work to do around product options and the pricing options in V6 that were not there in V3. I have a test site which was a snapshot of my V3 a month ago, and now been updated to V6. Lets assume that i make lots of changes to product options and pricing options on the test V6, and when i'm finally satisfied that it's how we want it, i go with a live upgrade to my V3. I'd upgrade the live V3 to V6, then remove all files and ftp over all the files from my test V6. I'd copy over the test V6 database, but i'd need to retain a number of tables from the live site (now a V6). tables like: customers, inventory, order summary, order inventory, basically, any live tables which may have changed between now and 3 months time. Is this going to work, and if so which tables will i need to retain from the live site (upgraded to v6) My only other alternative would be to upgrade the live V3 and have it as a 3 month work in progress, which the boss and customers will not want.
  2. This is going to be a lot of hard work, i'd imagine it will take me months
  3. Just given a little thought to this scenario, Cableties, come in bags of 100, we offer price breaks for 100, 1000, 10,000. Lets assume I drop my product options and use V6 pricing. How would I stop a customer ordering 150 as we don't split bags.
  4. I've just messaged the boss and asked .... if a customer calls by phone and orders 11 items, does he pay £10.00 (for 10) and £1.25 for the 11th, or does he get 11 at the 10 rate. It appears that by phone or email he would indeed get the 10 rate, but via the web, if he wanted 11, he would either order 11 singles (and we'd call hime back) or he'd order 10 + 1. She did say that no one has ever compalined though. Now having said that, V6 is slick compared to V3, i'm liking it the more I play with it, so it would be nice if I could somehow drop our old price break options and somehow import these in to the pricing tab on V6. Not a clue how I'm going to set about that at this stage, as we have about 4000 products.
  5. That is correct, we have price breaks, these are in a printed catalogue. We unfortunaely can't overcome the buy 1 single and choose 5 though. In this instance had the customer chose to buy 5 single items, his basket total would be £6.25, whereas had he looked he could have chosen the 5 option for £5.75. It has caught a few customers out, but the girls will generally ring the customer, explain what he did and refund the difference. The way CC is setup now, if a customer chose the 5 option he would see +£4.50, then when he gets his bill or goes to checkout, he sees that he's being charged £5.75. It's much easier to explain to a customer that 'he did wrong but we gave him a refund', as opposed to 'it's your own stupid fault can't you do maths' I'm more than happy to upload the two V3 files if anyone can make any use or sense of them.
  6. If you look at the screen shot from my V3, you'll see what I mean. The base price for this product is £1.25 The option prices are +£4.50 and +£8.75, but my V3 has been modified so it shows the price that the customer is expecting to pay £5.75 & £10.00. These modifications were done in ViewProd.tpl and ViewProdinc.php

I took a quick look (had to choose a different skin), and this appears to fit the bill. Would this work with mutiple options, for instance this particular product comes in various colour, but we also offer a price break for mutiple rolls.
  8. On the Mican skin, is there any way to have product options on the main catalogue page ? If you look at the attached images, we can see that inside the product, are options to purchase different colours. Where as on the main catalogue page, there are no options. If a customer chooses to 'Add to Basket', at this stage, he's no way of knowing what colour he added to his basket. It's probably made more difficult with the abscence of the 'More' button. On our V3 site, we removed the 'Buy' button exactly for this reason, so this will be a big stumbling block on migration to V6
  9. On my V3, i have mailing list check box checked as standard. It's an opt out rather than opt in. I'd like to do this on the V6. I'm guessing the code is in skin/template/content.register.php. It looks similar to whats in V3, but not similar enough for me to figure out what to change. input type="checkbox" id="register-mailing" name="mailing_list" value="1" {if isset($DATA.mailing_list) && $DATA.mailing_list == 1}checked="checked"{/if} />{$LANG.account.register_mailing}</a></span> Can anyone shed any light please.
  10. Is it possible to switch this feature off or change the config of it. I'm not convinced its working right, It seems that every item i put in my cart, it shows a similar range of products totally unrelated. Customers who bought "toilet roll" also bought "terminal pliers and 15amp connector strip" Or does this need to relearn ??
  11. Northern Ireland (BT) was the first one I created. I've removed and rebuilt them many times wondering if it may be related to the entry level. I've since found that if I delete the zone for the UK, and configure a shiiping rate for the "rest of the world", then the cart correctly determines the shipping based on my postcode. It charges £6.95 for BT and £3.95 for anything else. I'm also have 'collect in sore' plugin installed, and on the order i'm playing with at the moment (testing taxes and shiiping), it seems to be defaulting to collect in store, despite logging out, closing my browser and logging in again
  12. I have the 'All in one shipping' plugin installed. I'm creating shipping zones. I created a shipping zone in the UK based on a postcode (BT) with a cost of £6.90 and a zone for UK in its own right, with a cost of £3.95 If i change my address to a BT postcode, it gives me the option to choose either £6.90 or £3.95 shipping. You can guess which one the customer will choose. If I change my poscode to WF it charges ne £3.95 as expected. How do I create different shipping prices for different zones in the same country. I feel like i'm being stupid.
  13. I uncovered another issue. We have the Islands of Scotland, ot which there are numerous, but still part of the UK. A customer may enter UK as his country (rightly so), but in the list I created, there's no drop down for Orkney, and as the list is populated, these no ability for free text either, so in the end, i ditched all counties and left the box as free text. Maybe the UK is trickier than the rest of the world.
  14. I copied the table 'cubecart_geo_zone' and removed all entries ascociated with 225 (UK) then added these (without abreviations) back in. I'll copy the tables over this evening when ive a bit more time. ('182', '225', '', 'Avon'), ('183', '225', '', 'Bedfordshire'), ('184', '225', '', 'Berkshire'), ('185', '225', '', 'Borders'), ('186', '225', '', 'Buckinghamshire'), ('187', '225', '', 'Cambridgeshire'), ('188', '225', '', 'Central'), ('189', '225', '', 'Cheshire'), ('190', '225', '', 'Cleveland'), ('191', '225', '', 'Clwyd'), ('192', '225', '', 'Cornwall'), ('193', '225', '', 'County Antrim'), ('194', '225', '', 'County Armagh'), ('195', '225', '', 'County Down'), ('196', '225', '', 'County Fermanagh'), ('197', '225', '', 'County Londonderry'), ('198', '225', '', 'County Tyrone'), ('199', '225', '', 'Cumbria'), ('200', '225', '', 'Derbyshire'), ('201', '225', '', 'Devon'), ('202', '225', '', 'Dorset'), ('203', '225', '', 'Dumfries and Galloway'), ('204', '225', '', 'Durham'), ('205', '225', '', 'Dyfed'), ('206', '225', '', 'East Sussex'), ('207', '225', '', 'Essex'), ('208', '225', '', 'Fife'), ('209', '225', '', 'Gloucestershire'), ('210', '225', '', 'Grampian'), ('211', '225', '', 'Greater Manchester'), ('212', '225', '', 'Gwent'), ('213', '225', '', 'Gwynedd County'), ('214', '225', '', 'Hampshire'), ('215', '225', '', 'Herefordshire'), ('216', '225', '', 'Hertfordshire'), ('217', '225', '', 'Highlands and Islands'), ('218', '225', '', 'Humberside'), ('219', '225', '', 'Isle of Wight'), ('220', '225', '', 'Kent'), ('221', '225', '', 'Lancashire'), ('222', '225', '', 'Leicestershire'), ('223', '225', '', 'Lincolnshire'), ('224', '225', '', 'Lothian'), ('225', '225', '', 'Merseyside'), ('226', '225', '', 'Mid Glamorgan'), ('227', '225', '', 'Norfolk'), ('228', '225', '', 'North Yorkshire'), ('229', '225', '', 'Northamptonshire'), ('230', '225', '', 'Northumberland'), ('231', '225', '', 'Nottinghamshire'), ('232', '225', '', 'Oxfordshire'), ('233', '225', '', 'Powys'), ('234', '225', '', 'Rutland'), ('235', '225', '', 'Shropshire'), ('236', '225', '', 'Somerset'), ('237', '225', '', 'South Glamorgan'), ('238', '225', '', 'South Yorkshire'), ('239', '225', '', 'Staffordshire'), ('240', '225', '', 'Strathclyde'), ('241', '225', '', 'Suffolk'), ('242', '225', '', 'Surrey'), ('243', '225', '', 'Tayside'), ('244', '225', '', 'Tyne and Wear'), ('245', '225', '', 'Warwickshire'), ('246', '225', '', 'West Glamorgan'), ('247', '225', '', 'West Midlands'), ('248', '225', '', 'West Sussex'), ('249', '225', '', 'West Yorkshire'), ('250', '225', '', 'Wiltshire'), ('251', '225', '', 'Worcestershire'),
  15. Some of those you mentioned are towns and cities, Anglesey is neither it's an Island. so that i'm starting with a semi clean slate, is there any way to identify whats what in the database and clear out any v3 entries or drop the data and re-issue from fresh ?
  16. So I reloaded the V3 and upgraded to V6 and now I see countrys again. But could these country's and county/zones be imported from V3 and be out of date. Also, when i choose Jersey as the country, it's still prompting me for a county, yet Jersey is listed as a county in GB. I'm really confused. Is there any point to having an Iso code for Jersey, iif it's listed under GB. Also, there appears to be additional entries in the list which are quite clearly not counties. EG, Wakefield is a city.
  17. Bearing in mind that some of our customers are stupid. We quite often got asked why they'd been charged too much, some customers actually being irate and accused us of being misleading. Hence the reason, I had a mod written.
  18. I'm in the UK, I was initially trying to setup taxes, but couldn't find any countries configured. When I enter in to the countries section, I see no countries configured. Last night I added the ISO for the UK etc. I'l start over with the upgrade, and see what's there before I start making changes. It's only an hours work.
  19. On my V3 site, I had a mod written that takes the option price and adds this to the base price, then displays the total price. If we sell a single item for £1.00 and offer a price break for 10 items and sell at £9.00, on my V3 site it would show 10 items = £9.00 On the V6 site site, it shows 10 items at +£8.00,. We had a number of customers would call us asking why the web site said £8.00, but theyv'e been charged £9.00. I do recall Brian saying that this was possible last year. I'm happy to upload the V3 files if it helps with coding.
  20. Is there any way to make a product option to default to something rather than 'Please Select' I did ask something similar when i tried V6 a while back.
  21. I have 'All in one Shiiping' and 'Collect in Store' configured as my shipping methods, however, when i use the drop down, the headers for each plugin appears. The customer has no need to see the header titles for the plugins, just the options he requires. Is it possible to remove the header titles ??
