  1. I installed cubecart on a friend's website, but installed it to the folder www.pawsitivelypets.co.uk/cubecart

I had hoped that I would be able to move the files to the root folder when I was sure that I could get it working properly as I did not want to ruin her existing site. I'm now having problems moving the cart into the root folder.

    Can anybody help?

    I'm a bit of a novice.

    Thank you

An idea of what problems you are having and what you have done so far would be helpful !

  2. Hi,

I need to put in place the following shipping charges:

$40 per item shipping to Japan

$5 per item shipping to Europe, Australia/NewZealand

    all else no shipping charge.

I've gone over shipping by category, per item, etc and just not finding the right set up to make this happen.

    thanks, glenn

Take a look over at http://cubecartforums.org for the excellent shipping mod available there - I end up having to use iit on almost every client site I put in

  3. Thanks for the reply :yeahhh:

I don't actually want to store the credit card details but thought CC might if you do something like "Sage Pay Server" or "Sage Pay Direct" method (the methods where customers stay on your site and make payments from within your site). Is this something you have used before?

I have found on a few occasions that customers do not always like the idea of leaving your site to make a payment and then returning back. They simply abandon the cart and we're left with a pending order to either follow up or cancel. This is very frustrating when you are busy with many orders.

I'm wanting to find a way of using CC where I'm never left with pending orders and customers stay on my site when making payments, is this possible?

Are you sure that the cart is being abandoned at this point and for this reason ? Do the number of abandoned carts justify the huge extra expense ? Many people use online shopping carts in the same way that people go window shopping - they never have any intention of making a purchase

  4. Hi Kathy

If you are running the latest version as you say then you should tell them that and also tell them that there are no known vulnerabilities in the standard code. It is possible that the permissions on the directories werent set correctly when it was installed but it is much more likely to be that :

    1) They have a problem on their server - which host is it as they dont appear to be being very helpful as this is obviously just a stock answer to get rid of you.

    or

    2) One of the mods that was installed has a vulnerability that has been exploited.

Might be able to help if you can provide details of the domain and mods that have been installed

  5. hi, i am new to using cube cart, as part of my new job i am currently taking charge of two websites, i am just wondering is it possable to add certain information in the product title or description (using cube car, version 4) so that when searches are made, in say google, the products on our website are pushed up the search results?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    sean

    Hi Sean

You should certainly turn on SEO friendly url's, use the Apache rewrite rule (if you are on Linux and it is supported) then remember to make the changes to the .htaccess file as shown and finally choose combine with global meta data and chosse the category > sub category > product format.

That is a good start, after that it is all about the normal SEO practices - good page content, writing great page titles and descriptions and to a much lesser extent keywords. This is where the trick to SEO is to be found. The way CubeCart works for SEO purpoases is better than almost all other carts but you still need to do the work after that. It is possible to get great rankings though !

  6. What's the opposite of fabulous? Ian thank you for the replies, we're having some issues with our Cubecart deployment and it is very helpful to be able to note the source of the issue. The user guide they provided was not as thorough as we would like to see, so I have another call into them today and hope it will be all fixed up soon!

Hi Scott - I can think of quite a few ! I hope you do get it sorted out as it is very frustrating getting this sort of error. Good luck !

  7. I did check with them, it does not help that Cubecart doesn't report an Error code. As I mentioned, the transaction goes through no matter what (provided everything is valid).

And you will probably find that the error code (or lack of it) is down to their code as well. You said you checked with them - what did they have to say. Neither the software authors or anybody on here is going to be able to help much, if at all, as it is custom code. You have to get the mod authors to sort this out and if they are unwilling then find an independant programmer who would be willing to look at it

  8. Hi Scott

An idea of what payment gateway you are using would help ! Is this browser specific, card or time of day specific ?

    Ian

We are using Network Merchants Gateway, the time of day could be possible, but the error is intermittent, and not yet repeatable.

So not a standard CubeCart payment gateway then ? Where did you buy this one from and why not go back to them for support ? This is not a commonly used gateway with CubeCart and a quick search doesnt turn up much information on it at all - I guess it is down to poor coding within the gateway code.

  9. Hi i have shared ssl from fasthosts with 50MB of secure storage , as there is not enought room to upload the whole store , all i want is the checkouts to work unders ssl , currently using paypal payments pro and want to include google checkout.

What do i need to upload to my secure space for this to work please ?

    Paul.

    Paul

    1. Shared ssl certificates really arent worth having - you dont need anything expensive in terms of ssl certificates for CubeCart unless you are taking credit card details on the site (which if you are going to use payPal and Google you wont be)

    2. If you have ssl enabled within CubeCart then it automatically directs any pages such as registration, login and accounts pages so that they are secure.

  10. I am new to Cubecart and I am trying to wrap my head on how to properly set up my website.

I have a Florist website and I am with FTD. I have been given parameters for the credit card processing solutions. They told me that on Cubecart I could use the Paypal option as it uses their East platform.

So here is where I am confused, I have information from FTD, and I have set my paypal account up, but I am not sure how to set up Cubecart from here...

Does anyone have information that can point me in the right direction?

    Hi Nolan

I have no idea about FTD or how your website would integrate with their systems if that is what you are talking about.

However, if you have a PayPal account setup, then configuring Paypal to work with CubeCart is very simple. Login as your admin user and then in the left side menu click on Payment Methods and then next to the PayPal entry click on Configure and enter your details

  11. I've even created a folder and ran a PHP tool to unzip the file directly on the server, and that didn't work.

Please see the answers that I have already given in this thread - it isnt going to change no matter how many times or how many different ways people ask the question- this is NOT a CubeCart problem. The server that you are trying to run CubeCart on does not have the filer extension installed or enabled

  12. Hi Chris

What your hosting company has given you here doesnt "prove" that it is a CubeCart problem - only that the number of database connections required at that moment in time was more than they allow. There may be an issue with CubeCart not closing some tables when it could and you would need to get support from Devellion regarding this as has already been suggested. However, I very much doubt it is a major problem as others would be having these problems as well and there are plenty of people running CubeCart stores that have hundreds of concurrent users - I have several clients that average this number without any problems.

Looking at the stats supplied by them though I think you have more problems than this anyway. They are showing only 2 users connected to the server (one of which would be them) and yet a load average of between 1.4 and 1.53 !!

  13. Hi there, i have tried upgrading from .17 to .19 and didn't have any luck!

Can anyone offer a guide? This would really help because i'm not very website savvy!

    Thanks in advance

A little help as to what problems you had would help ! Did you start with standard unchanged 3.0.17 ? What problems did you have ?

  14. I currently have CubeCart 4.1.1 that was running with PHP 4.x. I downloaded CubeCart 4.3.3 as a zip file to my compter and unzipped it so that I could upload it to the webserver. I found out that CubeCart 4.3.3 requires the new version of PHP to run, so I upgraded it to 5.2.1. When I uploaded all the files to the server (auto or in another instance binary) I get the a blank page with the following error (which shows up on every webpage:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function filter_var() in /home/html/CubeCart-4.3.3/ini.inc.php on line 243

So line 243 is the last line in ini.inc.php, is it missing something or is it suppose to refer to another file that isn't there. I've tried uploading it in different ways. I've even created a folder and ran a PHP tool to unzip the file directly on the server, and that didn't work.

btw: I ran the cubecart compatibility and that pages shows up telling me that the my webserver is compatible to have 4.3.3 installed.

    Any ideas?

A recent version upgrade of CubeCart (cant remember which one off the top of my head) introduced the usage of the the filter_var() function which should come as standard in php > 5.2.0 which is all that the CubeCart compatibility test is checking for. However many hosting companies are not installing the PECL Filter extension as part of their distribution which is why you get this error. There is nothing you can do yourself to get around this error other than ask them to install it. Some will do it, although many wont in which case you wont be able to run CubeCart with that hosting company. It isnt just a CubeCart issue though as quite a few other applications are also starting to use this function

  15. Skins don't need to be installed - CubeCart checks to see what skins are in the skins folder, and lists them. All you need to do is upload the skin files, go into your admin config page and select your new skin.

Most skins can of course be "installed" by doing that, but there are also quite a few that need some small code changes in order to work - I run several of them myself. Therefore without knowing what skin is planned, my "generally very easy to install" comment is perfectly valid

If you have decided which skin you want to use, then you could just look at the "install" instructions or post the name up here and somebody will be able to tell you the situation

  16. Hi Ian,

I have managed to sort out the problem with my hosting company. I have then installed the the site successfully but when i go to the store's shop front and admin side, i just see a junk of php code. Please visit www.myshop.co.ke and see what the problem is.

    Regards,

    Julius

    Hi Julius

You either didnt install it correctly or there is still a problem with your hosting - are you sure that your hosting account fully supports CubeCart ? If you are 100% sure that it does support CubeCart then I would suggest you get back onto your hosting company or ask somebody to install CubeCart for you

  17. in the admin on the left menu go down to Maintenance ---> Rebuild & Recount ---> Rebuild category product count

    Thank you very much.

Tried that now and still no luck :(

It looks like it is actually working properly. In your DS/DS Lite top level category it is showing 10 products which is the total of the 5 that you have actually in that category and the 5 that you have in the console sub-category.

To be honest, the first thing I do with all my clients stores is remove the product count from showing

    Ian

Oh thank you very much..My mistake. How do i remove product count please. Thanks

No problem - glad to help !

To remove the product count after the categories, remove ({DATA.noProducts}) in skins/YOUR-SKIN/styleTemplates/boxes/categories.tpl.

Don’t forget to clean cache if you would like to see the results immediately.
