  1. Hey Ian

I know which mod youre talking about but it was a bit too much for me meaning that I didnt need all the features of it. So I went for the Coupon Enhancement bnecause of course, like you said, great program but some flaws, like not having the possibility to give free shipping Coupons originally but have to install a mod for it to have a free shipping coupon.

That mod should do what you want to do so not sure why you asked the question. Or were you just making the point that you feel that standard CubeCart should do this ?

  2. Brand new to CubeCart. Haven't even installed it yet.

If I want a third party skin, do I download that to my computer 'before' I download CubeCart? Is an option given during installation of CubeCart? How does this work?

    Thanks.

Each skin is held within its own sub-directory within the skins directory. I would suggest installing cubeCart first and then taking a look around the directory structure (or getting someone to install it for you) although third-party skins are generally very easy to install.

  3. You have probably got SEF url's switched on but not got a working .htaccess file.

This could be for a variety of reasons all of which your host should be able to help with - my advice, switch hosts again if they cant get something simple like this sorted out

  4. hello

Has anyone written a payment gateway mod for Westpac (australia) payway net gateway?

    Thanks Ian

I am not aware of anyone having written a gateay for this provider. It doesnt look as if it is very popular as very few have even asked for it before

If you are set on using it then you may have to have the gateway written especially for you

  5. At present we offer free shipping on all orders over £250.00. We want to sell to Europe but do not want to give free shipping to Europe only the UK. At present shipping is calculated on the weight. Is there a way to ofeer free shipping within the UK on orders over £250.00 but charge for shipping in europe.

    Ken

    Hi Ken

I dont think standard CubeCart can do this but there is a great mod from Estelle which will do just about any variation of shipping combination that you want.

  6. in the admin on the left menu go down to Maintenance ---> Rebuild & Recount ---> Rebuild category product count

    Thank you very much.

Tried that now and still no luck

It looks like it is actually working properly. In your DS/DS Lite top level category it is showing 10 products which is the total of the 5 that you have actually in that category and the 5 that you have in the console sub-category.

To be honest, the first thing I do with all my clients stores is remove the product count from showing

  7. Our developer has disapeared off the face of the earth (well not answering emails any more). We need to upgrade to the latest version of cubecart 4.1.1 to 4.3.3. Is it something I can do myself or do i need an expert. I have some knowledge but probably not enough.

    any advice would be appreciated.

    Ken

Upgrading standard CubeCart from one version to another is relatively straight forward but there are several things that you need to take into account. What skin are you using - several upgrades have required small changes to the skin which would have to be done manually. Have you had any mods installed - if so you would need to re-install these after doing the upgrade. Nobody will be able to answer whether you can do it or not - if you feel you dont have enough experience then you probably dont.

  8. I uploaded it on another server and I get this.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function filter_var() in /usr/local/www/vhosts/bulletproofshine.com/httpdocs/cart/ini.inc.php on line 243

I am using WSFTP, do I need to set it to binary upload instead of auto?

What version of php are you running on your server - you need greater than 5.2.0 and this error is normally caused by running a version less than this.

  9. Hi Julius

As I said before - error 550 is always a permission error of some sort. The fact that you are unable to CHMOD files proves that and probably shows that it is the permissions on a directory. Without having access to your system to see directly what is going on, it would be very difficult to tell you any more as you are not giving any detailed information to work with here.

Have you tried asking your hosting company - if they cant help or are unwilling to help and you still cant get see what is causing the problem, then I would suggest changing hosting companies to one that can !

  10. Hi all,

I have just copied the setup files for V 4 across to my server and gone to my website to set up and get the following error, any ideas?

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/sites/hotter-lingerie.co.uk/public_html/ini.inc.php on line 210

This is probably due to not FTP'ing the files in the correct format. Some file require binary mode and you have probably copied everything in ASCII format

  11. Hi,

I installed the trial version of CC4 but did not manage to make it work since my server did not have the compatible PHP version. I now have the compatible PHP version but the trial version had already expired. I have tried to delete the uploaded files so that I reload a new trial version but I am getting the following errors:

    1. When i try to delete old files: Response: 550 Delete operation failed.

    2. When i try to upload new files and overwrite old ones : Response: 553 Could not create file

Please help. I need to test the platform before i can purchase.

    Regards.

    Julius

This is nothing to do with CubeCart - error 550 is always a pernission problem of some sort. Check the permissions of files within each directory and also check to see that you are seeing any hidden files.

The second error is because of the first - remove all the files and directories first

  12. I've been using 3.018 for a while and am thinking about upgrading to 4, but I want to know if some things have been changed/fixed from 3

in particular, I was trying to use the "shipping by category" option, where I had one category that offered a free delivery because they were products only available to people locally and I was going to hand deliver them. but when I put in that one category with free delivery, the option for free delivery showed up in the checkout cart even if no items from that category were in the cart.

also, does 4 allow you to use inventory based on product options, rather than just one quantity for the whole item? for instance, I sell t-shirts, and have options for size (and some times color or shirt style), and obviously the overall "quantity" doesn't really matter, but only the quantity of the specific size the person wants to order.

thanks for any info that can help answer these questions.

I think that you would need to install the excellent shipping mod from Estelle - which I pretty much do for all my client's sites.

You will also need to install another mod (I think Estelle also does this one) to hold qty by stock option

  13. Got this sorted you were right havenswift was logging in using wrong acc, what i have just noticed when i google my site under the site title the usual blerb is not there it has this instead

hosting control panel if it has a file manager. The cache folder requires a file permission of 0777 (or as high as your hosting company allows e.g. 0775)

Not sure which file i have to update to correct this anybody any ideas

What is your site url and title ?

If that is showing in google, it is what was presented to the google crawler the last time it indexed your site and will stay until the next time it visits (assuming that you have fixed the problem with your site, of course!!)

  14. There are so many hosting companies out there that cannot support even a relatively simple product like CubeCart - this especially applies to the cheaper hosting companies out there - you get what you pay for ! If your store is in any way important to you, go to a hosting company that has a good track record of supporting CubeCart and has responsive support. :yeahhh: The difference in cost per year maybe as little as £30 to £50 per year but you will get good support and none of these problems. Your time alone, even before looking at lost orders and those customers that will never come back to your store because they saw it was down, will pay for the extra very quickly

  15. I am trying to figure out how I can allow a shopper to upload a photo to customize a product. For example they want a mug with a picture of their baby on it. How can I use cube to allow for this?

CubeCart doesnt have this functioanlity as standard and why would you want your customers to upload into it anyway. If you dont want to just ask them to email the image to you, then the best thing would be to have a mod written for you that would add a link to a file upload utility that could be called once the client has completed payment or alternatively could be given as a link within the confirmation email

  16. My host has moved servers so now i have to change the licence key, i check the knowlege base at cube cart it says this

It is possible to correct this your self. Please login to your customer control panel at http://www.cubecart.com. Viewing your dashboard you should see your "Software License(s)" listed down the page. Please locate the one in question and click "view full details". On the following page you should see instructions about how you can "Unlock" the software license key so that it can lock to your new server name and IP address.

When i go to my control panel there is nothing there to locate or click on to see the instructions to proceed to unlock the licence key anybody got any ideas how to sort this

If you purchased that licence through that control panel login then it will be listed under the My Licences / Copyright Keys. If it isnt on the front page under Active Licences then it was probably a demo licence that has now expired. If it isnt under either section, then you registered it through a different login

  17. Thanks Guys.

Yes I would need to import all the categories, products, text, images, product options as well, plus existing customer details.

I have found a company providing ecommerce conversions and imports. But they don't list cubecart4 on their web site, just version 3. Perhaps I need to email them to enquire.

If anyone has a good solution to this, I am willing to pay for the job to be completed.

    Thanks, Steve

  18. Hi, I have been asked to take an existing web site that is using Creloaded 6.2 pro white label and migrate it over to the latest version of Cubecart. The existing database is rather large and contains around 30000 products!

    Is this possible?

    Has anyone done this?

Any advice apart from run a mile!?

    Please help.

    Thanks, Steve

As already mentioned above, this does depend on exactly what you are trying to import as to how complicated it will be. I havent done anything with exported data from Creloaded but have loaded products exported from other E-Commerce systems successfully for clients. The amount of time (and therefore the cost if you pay somebody to do it for you rather than do it yourself) does depend on the points that Jason has mentioned but would be pretty straight forward loading directly into the mySQL database
