  1. Hi,

Is there a simple way to load the products of a cubecart store to Google Product Search (froogle)?

It is fairly simple to create a feed into froogle but you need a little technical knowledge to export the data from the database into a text file. The froogle instructions can be found Froogle Instructions

I dont know how technical you are so if you have any further questions, please ask or PM me

  2. Hi,

    I am hoping someone can help me. Over the past few months, there have been days when I get the following page when trying to log on or visit my website;

    Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /shop/admin.php on this server.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Apache/2 Server at onlinehobbysite.com Port 80

When I email my sever hosts, they tell me it's my fault, but sometimes, I cannot get into both sites I have (I have two websites, totally unrelated), but other times I can.

Today, my site has been down all day, and I have no idea why, as I haven't changed anything!

Is this problem likely to be a server error, rather than Cube Cart?

    Thank you,

    Chantelle

    Hi Chantelle

There are several causes of this but the most likely is that your hosts have enabled a security module for Apache. It's called mod_security and can be turned off fully or partially with .htaccess file. In this case mod_security tries to prevent mysql injections and that's why you get permission denied message.

    More here: Security Issue

It can be disabled by adding a couple of lines to the .htaccess file but I would first check with your hosts that this is something they have done first and therefore could be the cause. The other solution would be to move your site to a web hosting company that guarantees support of CubeCart

  3. Hi All,

Our site is nearing a point where we're happy with the content and the look and feel.

    http://www.hampertown.com/

Our big challenge now is getting on the search engines and this is going very slowly!

    Any tips welcomed!

    Looking forward to your comments.

    Best regards,

    Jeff @ HamperTown

    Hi Jeff

I like the simplicity of your site - it is clean and easy to read.

However, as far as your SEO and page ranking is concerned, you unfortunately have a very long way to go. You have a google Page Rank of zero as far as I can see across the board and there are so many things that you could do to improve your search engine positioning, I'm not sure where to start ! lol

    There are some simple things that you can do ;

    1) Pay for the copyright removal - at the moment (Powered by CubeCart) takes up more than half of your title and appears on every single page. Getting a good title tag is vital to positioning and ensuring that it is unique and as descriptive as possible will have the biggest effect

    2) Dont call all your products the same or similar thing - Handmade Cards being a case in point. With the way that standard SEO works in CubeCart this is also a big no-no

If you sorted those two things out, you would be part the way there but there are so many other things that could be done. It comes down to time and money !

    Good luck

  4. Immediately or when the order ships?

We process payment immediately but obviously this annoys some customers if the item is not in stock.

Does anyone use Protx but only process payment when the order ships?

Or, does anyone simply take the credit card details on the site and then process them on a PDQ?

I think you will find people that do all of the above. Which one you choose will really depend on your particular business. If you often have items that are out of stock then obviously dont take immediate payment. I mainly use Protx for payments on a variety of sites that I run but as most of products that these sites sell are either in stock or are custom made (and therefore require up front payment) it isnt an issue for me to always take immediate payment.

  6. Hi

For anyone interested in doing a manual upgrade from 4.3.0 to 4.3.1, I have attached a list of the changed (plus 1 new) files.

If you have an installation that doesnt have any changes or mods installed then upgrade using the CubeCart standard upgrade procedure.

If you have made changes then you can use this list to decide which files can be overwritten using the standard release and which need to be manually changed using the File Difference Report that is available in these forums.

    Good luck
