Guest ckwall
A couple of things... If I select a CC payment using authorize.net it does not allow me to select the type of card i am using. Is that normal? Also... it just fails after i enter it all in. The error message says "Sorry your order failed. You can attempt to purchase your basket items again below: " Where am i going wrong? Authnet doesn't require a cust. to choose the card. Your card is probably being declined (because of security, address mismatch, or no fundage). I hope this helps. bsmither
We send V/MC/D/Amex through Authorize.net - we had to tell Authorize.net when we set it up what account numbers the various card type merchant accounts were. After a day or so, you can log into your Authorize.net Admin panel and get a report of declined transactions - and why.
Guest
Actually, you can log in immediately after the declined transaction and see it in the Unsettled Transaction screen. Clicking into the individual transactions will show the reason it was declined. Any card number that begins with a 5 is a Mastercard. 4's indicate Visa, 3's indicate AmEx, and I don't remember which are Discovers. Because of the way the numbers are assigned, Authorize.net doesn't need anyone to tell it what sort of card it is.
bsmither
I was never able to see the details of a declined transaction until after a number of hours has passed by - typically overnight. YMMV. Discover starts with 6 (I believe).

Patrick Shouldn't it say 'card declined' in this case?
bsmither
It (Authorize.Net) may be reporting back a number of codes, it's just that CC doesn't display them anywhere. If you look in form.inc.php, the $debug variable is collecting all this response data. If the gateway is in debug mode, you will see it printed on your web page, but this is all designed for you and not any customer. Getting CC to say" Card Declined" and possibly the reason why it was declined will involve modifying the form.inc.php file.
