New installation (Version 3), help please....

I don't understand as I'm new to this.

Directories & Folders

Root SECURE Public HTML Folder to store: (Include Trailing Slash) ?

Absolute SECURE URL to store:

e.g. https://secure.domain.com ?

Server SECURE Root Directory:

e.g. /path/to/your/secure/webstore ?

Enable SSL:

(Warning: This change takes place immediately after submit. Please ensure your secure Root Directory and Secure URL are correct and working before setting this to Yes) ?

I used to have someone handle this for me but as I'm now left to do it myself, I have no idea in lamens terms as to what it wants.

The store is directly under my domain name but under a shared hosting of my other site with a main domain.

Please help me to understand.

It's for SSL. If you're not using SSL, then ignore it.

Root SECURE Public HTML Folder to store:

This is that part of your store's public address after the domain name part. For example:

Domain Part -> https://www.mystore.com <- followed by the folder(s) that house your actual store -> /mystore/ <-

The 'root to store folder' path is used by certain parts of the program.

Absolute SECURE URL to store:

This is the whole address. For example:

https://www.mystore.com/mystore

This address is used by other parts of the program.

Server SECURE Root Directory:

This is where your installation's code sits as you would find it looking at Windows Explorer or from some other directory listing command you would use at the computer's desktop/console. For example:

E:\\\\Inetpub\\\\wwwroot\\\\allysites\\\\webstore

(The quad backslashes is how to specify a directory path on Windows.)

This path is used by those parts of the program that fetch and save images, config files, etc.

Enable SSL:

Do not switch this ON until you have a Security Certificate installed (usually a job for your host) and you have tested the site by manually entering https:// to get to your store admin logon page.
