Guest twisted
The reason the GD library does not support the thumbnailing of gifs, is due to the fact that the gif format was "invented" by Compuserve, and Compuserve had patented the format. Due to licensing issues, GD does not handle gifs as it breaches the patent. HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is no-one aware, that Compuserves patent EXPIRED IN 2003????? [maybe it was 2004, but it HAS expired] Therefore, the gif format is now open season! GD can now support it without any fear of breaching the patent or licensing issues. So what do we do to get gif support with GD?
