I don't think you need to change any database names, just create your new database and then use the import function in php myadmin and select your old database file. Once you have copied over your files to the new server you will have to change the setting in the includes/global.inc file so that it works correctly.

Your client is correct, using IE7 and IE8 no flash on the catagory pages or product pages, just a white box. I don't know enough about flash to know why though.

If the compat-test is saying your not running php5 then I tend to believe it, CC3 will run on php 4, thats why you have no issue. Have a word with your hosting provider and ask them if you are definitely using php5 or is there something else you need to do to use it. Some hosting requires you to enable it or use htaccess to enable it as they run both versions.
