  1. the 4.3.5 ver. doesn't have the drop down anymore. Is that normal ?? How do I do it now ? The customer drop down option is disabled if you have 500 or more customers as it is too slow pre-loading all of the information into the browser. There is a solution over at http://www.cubecartforums.org though that solves all of the problems mentioned in this thread Ian
  2. Hi If you mean can it display the product code as part of the description, then no, not unless you add it to the description text for each product. However, this can often be a very useful thing and I have done it for many clients where the product code is widely known and searched for in google and other search engines. As long as you want it at the start or the very end of the current description, then it can easily be achieved using MySQL Regards Ian
  3. Considering that there are apparently so many people with this problem - it is a little surprising that there have been no responses ?!
  4. The problem is due to the way that the Admin Order Entry screen used to read the customer records in so they could be displayed in the drop down box. The more customer records that are added the slower this program is to load and during this loading of these records it was putting a heavy load on the MySQL server. The people at CubeCart decided to limit this number to 500 customers as a reasonable number that could be loaded without causing too much delay and strain on the server. This is an average figure but they had to choose a figure. Of course you can change this but you do risk this slowing down not just your site but any other site using MySQL on yoru server and in a shared hosting environment, the hosting company wouldnt be pleased. Ideally, as the notes state in the code, this should be an Ajax lookup but this isnt high on the priority list. However, there is a mod that provides a solution to this that can be found over at http://www.cubecartforums.org Ian
  5. No, and I've been trying for over a year now. If there are release-specific updates to fix this, it would be nice to know. This is quite a common problem and has been happening just recently to two new sites that I have recently started hosting for clients so have started looking into it myself. I have spoken to Al at CubeCart about this and they have spent a lot of time looking into it but without a relaible way of reproducing the issue it is almost impossible to do anything more about it. What is needed is as much detailed information as possible about exactly how this happens. There are enough people that have responded to this thread alone for us to hopefully be able to gather this information. If you look through all of the responses to this thread there is no information at all - how are the support people supposed to work with "It doesnt work". It is often difficult to get detailed information out of customers, especially if they are annoyed because they cant buy something from your store but this is going to be the only way that this issue is going to be solved. try emailing your customers that have experienced this and asking them what they were doing. One Symptom seems to be that no payment is taken, no order is recorded but the count of orders against a customer record is increased - does anybody else see this ? From the feedback that my two clients have received so far it seems to only happen when customers add items to their basket before they have registered and/or logged in - again, does this fit with what other people experience ? I am happy to act as the person collecting the information and relaying this to Al at Devellion. He is as keen to get this fixed as we all are but has nothing to work with ! Ian
  6. The PayPal sandbox setting is a test mode and should only be used for that purpose. it should always be set to this when first setting it up and running some test transactions but then of course should be set to live.
  7. Have you checked to see what the differences are between the two environments - if they are now the same versions, you could take copies of both environments down onto your local PC into different directories and then use a tool like diffmerge to see any any differences that exist. This might help to work out what is causing these issues. Ian
  8. As Ausy has said, if you use a strong password and change it frequently you should be OK. If you want to make it more difficult for hackers then it is possible to rename the whole admin directory to something obscure. Obviously anyone that knows CubeCart (or even anyone taking an educated guess as almost all packages use "admin" for the admin directory name) will find it easier to find your admin login screen. There is a post in this forum explaining how to do but right at this moment cant find it again ! Thanks for your reply Ausy. I was hoping that was the case but thought I'd better check before going any further. I was totally confused over having 2 foums, I couldn't understand why the other one didn'y recognise my logging in details - I know now Thanks again.
  9. Your hosting company should be able to sort this out for you by either installing the zend or ionCube libraries on the server. If they wont do this for you, then you can either install local versions (you can do a search in this forum for details) or find a hosting company that does support this. Ian I have the same problem Help please thank you
  10. What version of CubeCart are you running ? I have had several problems with clients that have had large stores (number of products and categories) and have worked with Al to get these sorted - these changes are now part of the latest versions of CubeCart. However, other issues such as MySQL not being configured correctly or the CubeCart database not being installed correctly can also cause major issues Ian
  11. Where in the OP does he say he doesnt want WordPress - all he says is that he has sen that along with several others ! As much as I like Joomla and to a lesser extent Drupal (personally for me that is) these are far too big and more complicated than required. They are CMS and not specific blog software - brilliant at what they do. I have used WordPress as blog software from quite a few CubeCart sites for clients - it is easy to install, easy to use and very well written. Ian
  12. I dont believe there is a physical limit to the number of keywords you can actually enter but how many you do enter here depends on how much work you are going to do on the SEO generally with your store. The title tags that are set within the general settings are global tags and it you use the Combine with Global setting which is recommended AND put the time and work into adding the tags at each level that you should do, then careful thought needs to be put into what goes in these general setting.
  13. There are a couple of ways of transferring the database but you will obviously need to do an upgrade on the database once it has been moved over. Ian
  14. It certainly wont work until you have it set up correctly although the shipping side in CC4 isnt the best ! However, you will also get the N/A as a customer until you have either logged in or entered your delivery address - there is no way that the system knows how to work out the postage amount until that happens.
  15. Yes that is correct and changing the status of a customer who didnt want to register to make them registered without their permission isnt a good idea ! Ian
  16. It's a cheat to get around number 2 above but instead of clicking as normal, right click on teh product you want to work and then open in a new window. Once completed, you can then close that window leaving the original window with the filetr in place. Not very elegant but it works ! Ian
  17. Not heard of gateways for any of these - if you have the spec then it isnt too difficult to get a gateway written Ian
  18. I know this is an old thread but there is now a ccBill gateway mod available for CubeCart - details can be found over at www.cubecartforums.org Ian
  19. This is done automatically Ian
  20. You would be best directing this question to the sales team at CubeCart - they are the only ones who can give you a definitive answer
  21. Pending means that the order has been placed but payment hasnt been received so you shouldnt ship. The gateway will change the status to processing once it has confirmed payment, you then ship the order and change the status to Complete and Despatched Ian
  22. No, It's nothing to do with the link. Your site doesnt appear to be reachable
  23. 4.3.3 supports all the latest changes made by Google and the upgrade from 4.2.3 to 4.3.3 is free ! Ian
