  1. Hi Al Thanks for posting the fix here but can you explain why it was a problem for some people viewing the website and not for others ? Ian
  2. Terry It is fine in IE8 and also Google Chrome. I have also tried it with FF 3.0.6 and that is OK as well. Just getting the very latest version 3.0.10 - what version have you tested it with ? My guess is that possibly it is a problem with a specific version of FF although you do have other display problems with your skin between different browser that need fixing so maybe that is contributing (Chrome doesnt display the latest product text and pricing correctly) Regards Ian
  3. There are no prices shown (to me anyway) anywhere on your site. Your site did seem very slow loading and moving from page to page though - your server is very slow responding to requests regards Ian
  4. What version of CubeCart are you using and what is the url to your store
  5. The first place to look is in index.tpl and cart.tpl (depending on where you are getting the problem) and look for any paths (images, css or anything else like javascript) that begins http:// If there is nothing in either of those two files, then you need to look at any other file that you have changed. Replace the fully qualified path with a relative path and that will solve the problem. Standard CubeCart doesnt have any of these issues so it is always something that you have added (javascript tracking for example) or in a skin (several places it could be but most likely in your stylesheets) regards Ian By the way what stats tracking are you using where you had to add code ? Why not use the built in Google analytics which is better than anything else that I have found regards Ian
  6. Nope, I obviously didnt ! I have no experience of running CubeCart on a local machine and wouldnt want to start as it is fraught with difficulties. If this is a completely fresh install of 4.3.2 including the skins, then dont think I can help you. The reason for my question regarding the skin was that this type of problem is usually to do with an old version of the skin being used. Regards Ian
  7. Hi Terry I cant see any examples either - can you direct us to a page where it is a problem. Regards Ian
  8. David Take a look at this post : CubeCart 4.3.2 Update regards Ian
  9. Hi Ruud I think the permissions must have changed for you to be suddenly getting this error message. Check the permissions on the includes/extra directory which should 777 regards Ian
  10. What is the url of your store ? If you are getting insecure warning messages it is because from a secure page one (or more) of your images is being called with an absolute path starting with http:// Depending on the skin you are using some of the image paths may have been coded this way but could be changed to give a relative path and then you wouldnt get the warning message Regards Ian
  11. Hi Having used both OS commerce and cubecart there is no comparisson between the 2. I ran into so many problems with oscommerce it was unbelievable and the site was just getting slower and slower the larger it got and even the support via the forums is far superior for cubecart and in regards to paid for or not paid for all I can say is that you get what you pay for and I found many errors in mods for oscommerce. Regards David I have used CubeCart both for my own sites and also supporting client sites for over 5 years now and also agree that there is no comparison. I have a lot more issues with the few OSCommerce sites that I support (having taken them on already built by somebody else) than I ever do with CubeCart sites. OSCommerce is just beginning to get there but still has a long way to go. If there is some functionality available in OSCommerce that isnt standard in CubeCart, then it will either have been developed as a mod (and the quality of the mods produced by the majority of authors is very high) or would be developed by somebody if it doesnt. As David has said, you very much get what you pay for and the cost of setting up, hosting and supporting a cubecart site isnt very much for somebody serious about an online business. Regards Ian
  12. Apologies - this is much more likely to be the cause of the issue. Check in your Admin General Settings, under the Styles and Misc section for the "Enable debug output?" setting and if set to Yes, change it to No. That should fix the problem regards Ian
  13. David This error is usually caused by defining the lightbox javascript files in the wrong order with your skin index.tpl file however that doesnt look like it is the problem here as the 4 definitions are in the correct order. Have you made any changes to other files recently, maybe files within the skin definition ? Regards Ian
  14. Good for you for wanting to learn and using your spare time doing that - that's a huge machine for someone with no money though !? Do we take it from your last post that you now have this working ? regards Ian
  15. A VPS is a good bet for sites that have really grown and are getting many hundreds or thousands of visitors per day (depends on a lot of factors such as image size used on products, length of time on site, digital downloads? etc) but a good shared hosting plan with a reputable hosting company that as you said doesnt overload their servers (which all of the big companies and all of the very cheap hosting companies do - it is the only way they can charge the prices they do!!) is still fine for a lot and certainly for all start-up stores. It doesnt have to be Plesk in order to have a migration path, CPanel allows you exactly the same flexibility and in fact has functionality built in to do a server move automatically for you. I prefer CPanel myself and that in combination with WHM is what I use but it is personal preference (or usually what you are used to). The whole point of a VPS is that you arent affected by other users on the system - you have dedicated memory, CPU and disk resources although you are in a "shared environment". In many ways a good VPS setup works better than a dedicated server - with the best ones you can dynamically add nodes (extra system resources) as your requirements increase and get a "system" that will out-perform a dedicated server. Of course it is possible to cluster dedicated servers together if needed. Regards Ian
  16. Depends what you call a reasonable amount of time - maintenance and functionality releases are made pretty often for version 4 and even still for version 3 Anyone can log a bug via the bug tracker available from these forums and anybody can track the progress of all "bugs" logged here (a lot logged arent actually bugs but still need to be looked at). There are quite a few experienced people helping out in these forums free of charge helping to resolve lots of issues but only a few turn out to be actual bugs. Most are because people dont have the right environment to install CubeCart, cant read the instructions, play around with the code afterwards, incorrectly install mods or just dont understand the functionality. Do you expect Microsoft to offer you free personalised and instant support ? Have you seen what they charge for this ? Support, whether direct from CubeCart, as part of a hosting package like I and a couple of other people offer or on a case by case basis which many can and do offer, can seem expensive in comparison to the price of the product. However that is because you are not paying thousands for a great product. Have a think about the amount that you would want to charge per hour for any service that you could provide and then take a gamble on the number of times somebody might want that service during a year and how long it would take to sort out each individual problem and see what figure you come up with. Regards Ian
  17. Hi This isnt a file permission problem - a quick look at the file path that it is referencing shows that it isnt correct and parts are being duplicated. What is causing that is another matter - I cant believe that it is a CubeCart bug as I would think that others would be reporting it. If it isnt an actual bug then without looking into your system and the code in greater detail than is possible and doubt if there is much more that can be done. Regards Ian
  18. Hi I have spoken to the people at CubeCart about this and you shouldnt believe everything you read on the web. There have been some nasty articles posted recently regarding CubeCart and several of these article writers, even when presented with evidence to the contrary, refuse to change their viewpoint or posting - vested interest maybe, who knows ! Many of them are not even doing their reviews using a current version of the software. Does CubeCart have bugs, yes of course it does the same as any other software product but I have found that when they are reported in the correct way, they are fixed quickly. That being said, there was an issue exactly as described but unlike this article says, it has been fixed recently and is no longer a problem in the current version. It is very easy to sort out anyway even if you cant just upgrade to the latest version, by just taking the spiders.txt from the latest release and over writing the current version on your server. I havent tested this myself as I have never seen the issue but it should be easy enough to try it ! Regards Ian
  19. It seems like you are having quite a lot of issues at the moment and changing a lot of files and this is causing all of these problems. This problem is caused by changes you have made to your cart.tpl file in the styleTemplates/global directory - the reason it is showing up here but is fine in the rest of the site is because the cart has it's own template different from the rest of the site. Regards Ian
  20. Howman That is exactly what I meant last night - the answer is not to run it on your own PC. It isnt worth the hassle Regards Ian
  21. Yes it is very bad for SEO (for your site anyway - great for cubecart !!) and why I always tell my clients that they have to pay for the copyright removal. A few extra pounds will pay you back thousands or more later. If you are that bothered and believe that you will eventually use the software then pay the extra amount although if you are testing and dont think you will then dont regards Ian
  22. Very difficult to say anything when you give no specifics like website domain !! regards Ian
  23. Hi Chris I havent looked in detail at that code and may take a look tomorrow as I am now interested myself. You do have a lot of products and I dont know many people that use that functionality at all. I do have one application that needs 256MB memory allocated to it but that is pretty exceptional and I would guess that there is a bit of bad coding here that has probably never been found because nobody has ever looked to export this number of products before. regards Ian
