Is it possible to switch this feature off or change the config of it.

I'm not convinced its working right, It seems that every item i put in my cart, it shows a similar range of products totally unrelated.

Customers who bought "toilet roll" also bought "terminal pliers and 15amp connector strip"

 

Or does this need to relearn ??

These items are not "related" in any way, except by coincidence. There must be a past order in your store where the customer did, in fact, on that one order, buy 'toilet paper' and 'terminal pliers'.

In the skin template content.checkout.php, near the bottom, find:

{if $RELATED}

Change to:

{if false && $RELATED}

There are mods that will get you bona-fide "related" products.
