Christopher Short
I just changed to a gmail account and keep getting test failed to execute when I try to input the new settings in v6. Any ideas?
bsmither
The latest CC6 is supposed to tell you where the test failed. If you are not running the latest CC6, then my best guess is that GMail is actively refusing to accept your test email because there are permissions that need be made in your GMail account settings pages. There is a conversation here (a bit old, but still relevant) that discusses what you must do with your GMail account. This conversation:http://www.cubecartforums.org/index.php?showtopic=18548&hl=gmail points to this conversation:https://forums.cubecart.com/topic/47081-resolved-i-can-not-get-smtp-to-gmail-to-work-on-cubecart-5-help/?hl=gmail This has supposed to have been implemented by now. But, as the final comment in the first thread mentions, make sure your GMail can be accessed by an external application.

I don't get any errors other than test failed to execute. I tried the other threads and it didnt change. Fail.docx
bsmither
According to the image, I see that the Sending Method is "PHP mail() Function". Please switch that to "SMTP with TLS" (if available, "with SSL" if not). TLS is port 587, but because CubeCart's Mailer already knows that, I think you can leave the SMTP Port field blank. Test. Tried that, and tried with the port both blank and filled, same failure.
bsmither
This edit was put in CC609:https://github.com/cubecart/v6/commit/2ec9d2390ad814d7692b011562653ccd1cdd7c93 Please review the code and make sure that the code you see shown here is in your version of CC6. Add it, if necessary.
Christopher Short
Fixed one issue, now I get SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: Connection refused (111) SMTP connect() failed.
bsmither
Have you confirmed your hosting provider allows outgoing connections through port 587?
