[email protected]
Hi, yesterday I installed 6.2.1 and all was good until I duplicated the foundation skin to make my own custom one. I followed the usual information at https://support.cubecart.com/knowledgebase/article/View/202/46/how-do-i-create-a-custom-skin-or-template but whenever I go to the admin page and I load the new skin the actual web page becomes blank. When I put it back to foundation it works alright. This didn't happen with previous versions. Regards
bsmither
After changing the default skin in admin, you may need to click the Clear Cache button. Alternatively, if the admin settings allow for the admin to change the skin from the storefront skin drop-down selector, try that to see if CubeCart will start using the chosen skin. [email protected]
no, I had already tried to clear the cache and changing it from storefront (when enabled) makes no difference.
bsmither
Then please create the error_log. There may be the reason why CubeCart is delivering a blank page.
Noodleman
go through the config.xml file in your updated theme. if there is a duplicate with foundation it can cause this kind of issue. rename anything "foundation" to something else, and make sure the folder name is valid and matches your new theme name. [email protected]
I checked config.xml again, it's all renamed. I tried changing the original_name that it was suggested to be left as foundation since the new custom skin derives from it. no change, www.preserving-football-history.net is blank with any foundation derived skin. I have also tried to get an error_log file. I followed the instruction but there are no such files being created in the root folder. All in all, I think you can easily and quickly see yourself if this is a bug. It won't take much to test. I have tested it on most browsers. Thank you, just please let me know if this issue cannot be replicated. In that case I must clearly be doing something wrong myself but I have created several custom skin in the past so I truly do not know....
bsmither
The web server is sending back a 200 OK response, but zero content. So, this is not a case of something crashing. Experiments to follow.

[email protected]
Hi, has this issue been acknowledged for ? or is it me doing something wrong ? I am sure that others might have reported it if this was a bug. Regards,
bsmither
Sorry this took as long as it did to post a reply. The copy of the skin is identical to Foundation, except what was changed in config.xml. So, a very careful analysis of that file revealed that, against the XML coding standards, having dashes (minus sign, hyphen, n-dash, m-dash) is not allowed. Anywhere! (Internet search for dashes in xml.) Please test after making this change. Hopefully, this is the cause: From: <homepage>http://www.preserving-football-history.net</homepage> To: <homepage>http://www.preserving-football-history.net</homepage> Your server environment is probably not set fully to display every possible error. There should have been some kind of warning issued by PHP regarding its disagreement with the XML file having illegal characters.
[email protected]
Thank you. I'll test it accordingly.
[email protected]
Hi, made the change but no effect. I should add that this did not happen with previous cubecart version. The cart works well when I put it back on the foundation layout....
