scythe000
Whenever I click on a category link I get this error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator at [email protected] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. bsmither
Create the error_log. See if anything interesting shows.

bsmither
Nope. Nothing here. That might mean something in the .htaccess file doesn't like a category URL. That's not likely, though, unless you have a bunch of redirect statements. The other likely reason is a problem has developed with a skin template. Sometimes, catching a Smarty error can be real tricky.

bsmither
I see nothing wrong with this file - other than CC617 has a more up to date version.
scythe000
I can try swapping it with the one from my working site on the same host. Edit: no luck Actually, it's worse than i thought, all links are giving the same error.
bsmither
You may need to get your hosting provider involved. If this just started, t may be the case that your hosting provider did something.
scythe000
AFAIK, it was working fine before i migrated it to my new host. It's a Linux cPanel host. aha! It's something to do with the .htaccess file. If I delete it, the site looks weird, but i can browse just fine. Got a vanilla one i can try? bsmither
Migrated. Ok, so I think there may be something about the new environment. Your hosting provider should be able to suss out something.
scythe000
Is it a problem if I just leave my .htaccess file deleted? Everything seems to be working now with it gone.
bsmither
CC617 will put one back if it can't be found. The friendly seo path feature will not work without the code in the .htaccess file.
havenswift-hosting
Check for php.ini and .htaccess files in the top level directory above public_html Ian
