Phase2 Posted November 5, 2018 Share Posted November 5, 2018 My web page creates constant cache files even when not in admin. Any suggestions as to how to stop this. Thank you Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bsmither Posted November 5, 2018 Share Posted November 5, 2018 This is by design. It speeds up the performance of the site and reduces the amount of time from page request to first byte delivery. But to disable CubeCart's reading from it, in admin, Store Settings, Advanced tab, set Cache to Disabled. Be aware that CubeCart may write files to the cache anyway, but won't read from the cache. Phase2 Posted November 5, 2018 Author Share Posted November 5, 2018 Thank you I have disabled cache , This generating of files was brought to my attention by my web host.as my web site was growing daily. I have included a copy of to days files that CC generated without me doing anything. ====================================== -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 1.1K Nov 5 18:20 db0de.html.nota.menu.en-GB.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 14K Nov 5 18:20 db0de.info.skins.list.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 208K Nov 5 18:20 db0de.lang.core.definition_data.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 131K Nov 5 18:20 db0de.lang.core.definitions.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 359 Nov 5 18:20 db0de.lang.info.en-GB.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 472 Nov 5 18:20 db0de.lang.lang.core.xml.en-GB.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 2.6K Nov 5 18:20 db0de.lang.list.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 47K Nov 5 18:20 db0de.seo.category.list.en-GB.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 85 Nov 5 18:20 db0de.skin.custom.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 155 Nov 5 18:27 db0de.sql.001081c99f7eaaabf77d4854d6be3a6c.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 463 Nov 5 18:23 db0de.sql.002808a7b8b69866313f3493746f632d.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 1.1K Nov 5 18:33 db0de.sql.0079b5d9c3f9c35f6ba7083e4c38e0bf.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 134 Nov 5 18:41 db0de.sql.007a117196d6822dbae5e42e33ef0089.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 159 Nov 5 18:46 db0de.sql.0082f95eedeabed45bfad7ee36d08bb1.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 122 Nov 5 18:33 db0de.sql.008b8c977da76429396db01d4265351c.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 195 Nov 5 18:22 db0de.sql.009a20848acf9389e60eda8acdb005f0.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 236 Nov 5 18:32 db0de.sql.00abc0c3366887bc5c6a5cce9a023933.cache -rw-r--r-- 1 jotogif3 jotogif3 792 Nov 5 18:42 db0de.sql.00d3937ac1f04934f4fb6cc71b753a06.cache Thank you again Tony Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Why would you web host have brought this to your attention ? Cache files are generally very tiny and so disk space shouldn’t be an issue Ian Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
patrick21 Posted July 1, 2019 Share Posted July 1, 2019 There needs to be some notification to inform admins that if they want their config changes applied they must clear the cache. If you don't know about this new feature then people will assume their changes are live on the site or wonder why the changes are not working. Shouldn't the cache be cleared when product data is modified (on product save) so your changes are applied in real time? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bsmither Posted July 1, 2019 Share Posted July 1, 2019 There is an indicator in the admin screens -- upper-right corner. There is a lit button that says Clear Cache. If there isn't this button, then your CubeCart store may not be at CC620+, or there may be two admin folders - one of which is correct and the other in actual use. Repeatedly and persistently clearing the cache has been overruled to only when the admin actually wants the cache cleared and must positively enact that action. foz1234 Posted July 5, 2019 Share Posted July 5, 2019 Am i right in thinking there should be no need for the cache to be cleared unless store has had any changes or updates? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Exactly right. CubeCart used to clear cache on every single admin page load effectively rendering the cache mechanism useless - actually worse than useless because the constant creating and clearing of cache files used to take a lot of disk I/O and provided next to no benefit to front end users. If you are making a series of changes as admin ie updating orders, adding or changing products / categories / documents, then clear cache every so often if logged in for a long period of time (not after every change) or better still once you have finished and just before you logout. Wayne Sallee Posted July 11, 2019 Share Posted July 11, 2019 Web hosts can be a real pain over nonsense stuff, claiming to give you a certain amount, but not wanting to give it to you. That's why I got my own VPS. If that list is all that you had in you cache when the web host complained, then that is ridiculous. You should turn your cache back on. The one and only WayneSallee. :-) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
