callumw
Hi I just moved my g/f to a new server and in the process updated from V5 to V6(.1.4). It was problematic (lots of 503 errors), but I managed to get it into life. The one problem I have remaining is that the product categories are now blank. I don't think I can create any new ones either. In Inventory | Categories, I see them, but if I try to edit one, the parent category only has '/' (there should be about 20 including sub-categories) I created a new category and once saved it's in the main list, but not in the dropdown. I create a new category and it's not in the list for me to make a sub-category. If I edit a product then go to the Categories tab there no entries in there. In Products | Assign To Category, the bottom part of the screen which should have the Categories has a row for each one, but they're all populated as '/' Anyone else had this? Noodleman
Sounds like the upgrade had issues, I would restore your V5 backup and re-run the upgrade process.
havenswift-hosting
A 503 error generally means that the server is unavailable and getting one is bad enough but getting lots is a major concern both for the upgrade (which will need re-doing again) but for the future of your website especially as you say you have only just moved ! You need to speak to your hosting company and get an explanation for the cause of the 503 errors and if you want to have a chat with me, we provide specialist CubeCart hosting including free CubeCart support on our E-Commerce hosting packages Ian

Thanks for the reply. The only reason we upgraded was because the original one was 503 after importing into the new server, so rolling back isn't an option
Dirty Butter
So the issue is really related to the change to the new server? Have you contacted your new host? Did they do the transfer of data and files for you? Hopefully they can take it back to a good install on their servers or deal with your old host to get a good v5 copy. Do YOU have any old backups of your v5 files and database from when it worked?
Noodleman
you want to fix your store errors/issues before ever doing an update, unless you know the root cause of your issues is a bug fixed within the update. It sounds like you just have some server differences which need to be addressed, but without you doing a review of your errors logs you won't know what actions to take. Validate your directory permissions, ensure they are correct. They probably are as they get checked by the installer/upgrader. Clear all your cached objects, disable all plugins/modules and check if the store is misbehaving. you need to be reviewing your SERVER error log and pulling out the errors.
