Claudia M
I just upgraded to 6.15 and my shopping cart is showing some weird behavior. When I add and item to my cart and click "View Cart" in the popup it takes me "Your cart is empty - Continue shopping". I click continue shopping and it takes me to my homepage where the cart shows $3.99 ( the amount of the item I had previously added to the cart). Click that amount and it goes to the Homepage where the basket amount is now. $0.00 If I add an entirely different item to the cart, the popup will now show both items and the cycle continues. I have cleared the cache many times, tried the Foundation skin that comes with 6.15, and tried different browsers and computers. Same or similar outcome. I use Host Gator and found another post where they were having a similar situation and it was Host Gator's caching problem which they have now fixed. So I just don't know. I'm providing some screen shots I got a couple of times to see if that means anything. Debugging did not show anything unusual to my eye. Thank in advance for any and all help, Claudia
Al Brookbanks
I've seen this a lot over the last few months. It's caused by proxy cache servers forced on your website by your hosting company. Essentially it ovecaches taking away much of the dynamic functionality if your shop.

Al Brookbanks
Yes me too. That's wired. Hopefully nothing malicious or trying to be.
Claudia M
How would I find out? I don't see how it could be anything malicious . The only files are the 6.15 files and my plugins
Dirty Butter
The letters in between all the diamonds (kz,zv,zg) appear to be country abbreviations. Would that help track it down?

Al Brookbanks
Hostgator have no responsibility for the files in your website and I personally believe they are not qualified to support CubeCart files. They should be able to advise on the cache however.

If you add something to the cart and then empty the cart and go back to homepage it shows an empty cart but put something new in the cart and the original products that were there reappear. havenswift-hosting
@ayz1 that is true but the difference as I said earlier, is that we support not just the hosting but CubeCart as well and so don't blame one or the other and we work closely with @Al Brookbanks to report and solve issues. There is a problem with that demo site at the moment which seems to have developed since being updated to 6.1.5 and the same problem happens on two other non public test sites that are on that same server - the other two sites are out of the box 6.1.5 installations with no additional plugins or skins so there is no interference. The server that is running these three sites is a test server that doesn't run any client sites and we have multiple clients that have already been upgraded to 6.1.5 on a variety of other servers where the problem doesn't happen, so it appears to be a combination of CubeCart within a specific hosting environment that is causing the problem. The difference again though, is that we will continue to look into this until the problem is found. Nobody can ever claim that problems with software or hosting don't occur, it is the way that they are dealt with that is important and that is what our clients value Ian
ayz1
It's not a 6.1.5 issue as it has been like that for several weeks.

We have plenty of clients on 6.1.4 and 6.1.5 without the problem so it is a certain combination of issues

What I'm saying is that it's not a 6.1.5 issue as you seem to indicate as your demo website has had the problem for several weeks prior to the release of 6.1.5 so it hasn't developed since being updated to 6.1.5. Claudia M
This is Host Gator's response: I reached out to some upper level admins regarding what you are currently experiencing. Unfortunately, the caching issue is a known problem that our admins are working to get resolved as quickly as possible, yours is not the only site experiencing this issue. I've added your account to the existing ticket so that the problem can be addressed and resolved quickly. I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. I asked: How long is this going to take? This is Host Gator's response: Unfortunately, as a frontline agent I am not able to provide those sorts of estimates. I do know it is an escalated issue and they are actively working to resolve it. I asked Host Gator what I was suppose to do until the fix, my site was basically useless. Host Gator Response: You could make a note on the site for customers to clear cache if they find themselves having issues. I was able to add things and remove things from the cart with a few occasional catches where clearing the cache or using the hard refresh resolved it. I apologize again for the inconvenience this has caused.
ayz1
Try looking in your .htaccess file and remove caching of any files such as images and JavaScript files. Look for ExpiresByType entries and remove them.

The https://www.cubecart-demo.co.uk site is not an official CubeCart demo website (which seems to work OK from initial testing) but if you had noticed issues with it for a while, it would be interesting to know for how long and at what version ? My thoughts at this time are that it is a PHP version or more likely an environment issue and rather than anyone being negative, it would be helpful if people that are experiencing the issue, gave details of the setup they are using to narrow down the problem PPS : in fact, if you check https://www.cubecart-demo.co.uk now, I think you will see that the problem is no longer happening ! I will be able to report tomorrow what the exact cause is

Al Brookbanks
I keep a bit clear on here as it undermines our clients paying for support. This issue has been rife over the last six months as hosting companies seem to be upping their caches. This cache can take numerous forms: Forced browser cache as ayz1 suggested via .htaccess Proxy caches. Poorly configured PHP OPcache. One of these will be causing the problem. I'll be surprised if its something else.
